LEGO Sets for Girls

Although there is nothing worse than stepping on a stray LEGO on the floor barefoot, we can all agree that building toys have boundless benefits. For starters, they stretch your inventive skills as you try to find ways to get your creation just right. Sometimes you have to experiment with how the pieces go together or do some problem solving to figure out a tricky section. Playing with building toys helps introduce girls to STEM.

On that same note, LEGOs encourage creativity. Since the building blocks are interchangeable between sets, you can apply your own twist and feel so proud of your customized masterpiece! Also, building blocks inspire role play, particularly when mini-figures, animals, or vehicles are involved. They offer a fun way to engage with others is imaginative play. For these reasons, I believe they make excellent gifts for children of all ages, but especially girls.

Are you trying to decide on a gift for a girl in your life? You can’t go wrong with LEGOs which are timeless and don’t go out of style! Or do you know a girl who is really into LEGOs but you’re just not sure what set to pick out for her? We’ve put together this list to make your life easier!

What To Look for in LEGO Sets for Girls

The last thing you want is for your girl to open a box of LEGOs and get started building just to realize that it’s not a good fit for her. Here are a few things to think about before purchasing a set for a girl in your life.

  • Number of pieces: Think about what kind of endurance and experience your daughter, niece, or friend has with LEGOs. If she’s a pro, she’ll likely embrace the challenge of a set with hundreds of pieces. But that many pieces would certainly overwhelm a beginner. If she’s new to building kits, get her a set with fewer pieces to help build her confidence.
  • Complexity of instructions: Some instructions are easier to follow than others. For instance, “starter sets” typically break down the steps with plenty of pictures to accommodate younger girls just learning to build with LEGOs. Sometimes you can even check out the instruction manuals online prior to purchasing a set to get a clear idea of the complexity level.
  • Size of set: How much space does she have to store the completed creation? Major enthusiasts often have tables or shelves dedicated to the display of their sets while others may be working with limited storage space.
  • Theme of set: Consider her interests as you select a set for her. Whatever she’s into, there’s likely a set to go along with it. Whether she likes Disney, space, Harry Potter, superheroes, or pets, you can be sure to find something from LEGO to appeal to her.

With those thoughts in mind, let’s get started with our best of the best LEGO sets for girls!

    LEGO Disney Sets

    5. Aurora’s Forest Cottage 43188

    Aurora’s Forest Cottage 43188

    Pieces: 300

    Our Recommended Ages: 5-10

Do you have a Disney fan in your life? I know I do! This new product from LEGO will definitely appeal to her with its rustic 2-story cottage, bridge, animal friends, and mini figures Aurora and Maleficent. It really has everything she’ll need to recreate her favorite scenes from the movie!

    6. Frozen II Arendelle Castle Village 41167

Frozen II Arendelle Castle Village 41167

    Pieces: 521

I think it’s safe to say that there are a lot of young Frozen II fans out there! With this popular set, they can recreate both the Arendelle castle and village. Of course Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff are included because it wouldn’t be complete without them. They can explore the 3-story castle, jump into a row boat, or roam the village market booths. Your girl will not be disappointed with this product!

    7. Rapunzel’s Tower 43187

    LEGO Disney Rapunzel’s Tower 43187

    Pieces: 369

    Our Recommended Ages: 6-10

Now this is really a beautiful kit featuring characters from the beloved movie Tangled! My favorite part is the tower because of the details. Since it’s so tall, it doesn’t take up much space on a LEGO table. Who knows, maybe your girl will even rewrite the plot and come up with new adventures for Flynn Rider and Rapunzel!

    8. Sleeping Beauty’s Fairytale Castle 41152

    Sleeping Beauty's Fairytale Castle 41152

    Pieces: 322

    Our Recommended Ages: 6-10

I love how the castle can be customized  in so many ways! You can place the towers in whatever arrangement you like and really bring the set to life with the many magical accessories that are included. Within the castle, you’ll find a balcony, vanity, and lair. Other features include a magic wand, spinning wheel (wouldn’t be complete without it!), hairbrush, and cake table. The only down side is that it only comes with 1 fairy. Overall, this is a super fun set!

    9. Cinderella’s Castle Celebration 43178

And it is perfect for someone learning to build since it comes with a starter brick base plate and simple instructions. LEGO Trolls World Tour Sets

    10. Pop Village Celebration 41255

    Pop Village Celebration 41255

    Pieces: 380

    Our Recommended Ages: 6-10

This tree house play set includes all the details you would expect from a Trolls World Tour product –pods, a DJ stand, a skateboard, a slide, and flowers, everything needed to create action-packed adventures with the trolls. Also included are mini-figures of favorite characters including Guy Diamond, Tiny Diamond, and of course Poppy. The best part is that the pods are conveniently portable, making it easy to pick everything up and take it with you.

    11. Poppy’s Pod 41251

    Poppy’s Pod 41251

    Pieces: 103

    Our Recommended Ages: 4-8

Easy to build with simple instructions, this set is ideal for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience with LEGOs. The cute, bright colors and darling mini Poppy are sure to get your little girl hooked on LEGOs. Just be prepared for her to ask for more kits so she can combine them with Poppy’s pod! This is the perfect choice for a 6-year-old young lady.

    12. Poppy’s Hot Air Balloon Adventure 41252

Poppy’s Hot Air Balloon Adventure 41252

    Pieces: 250

    Our Recommended Ages: 6-10

What a unique, whimsical set this hot air balloon set is! From Trolls World Tour, this set features a hot air balloon which can be adjusted by flapping the hearts, several mini-figures from the movie, and other Trolls themed pieces. It can be a little tricky to put together so it serves as an excellent way to spend time with your little lady as you help her assemble it!

LEGO Harry Potter Sets for Older Girls

    13. Hogwarts Express 75955

    Hogwarts Express 75955

    Pieces: 801

    Our Recommended Ages: 8-14

Now this is not your mother’s model train set! With over 800 pieces, it is full of realistic details like side panels that come off, a bridge, and even Platform 9 3/4. It is stocked with all the accessories needed to replicate scenes from the book, such as dementors, a candy selling witch, and wands. Plus all of the main characters are included as mini-figures including Harry, Ron, Hermoine, Remus Lupin, and even Scabbers the rat. This set is truly a Harry Potter lover’s dream come true! This is a great option for any tween girl.

    14. Hogwarts Astronomy Tower 75969

    Hogwarts Astronomy Tower 75969

    Pieces: 971

    Our Recommended Ages: 9-12

As one of the biggest girl LEGO sets in our list, the astronomy tower is only for older LEGO fans if you ask me. All sorts of characters are included as mini-figures, such as Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom. Additionally, there are loads of accessories like mandrake plants, wands, and potion books. This set is particularly fun if you have other parts of the castle; when all the towers are combined you can create an enormous replica of Hogwarts.

    15. Hagrid’s Hut: Buckbeak’s Rescue 75947

    Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue 75947

    Pieces: 496

    Our Recommended Ages: 8-12

It’s hard not to love Hagrid, the big, cheerful gamekeeper at Hogwarts, so this set featuring Hagrid’s hut is a favorite. If you know about Hagrid you know the set wouldn’t be complete without an exotic magical creature. Buckbeak the Hippogriff comes with it as well as 6 mini-figures. But the best part: the light brick which lights up when you press a button!

    16. 4 Privet Drive 75968

    4 Privet Drive 75968

    Pieces: 797

    Our Recommended Ages: 8-12

Inspired by unforgettable scenes in the beloved Harry Potter series, this set gives older girls a chance to reenact all the adventures from the books they’ve read and loved. It includes quite a few mini figures, including Harry, Ron, Dudley, Vernon, Petunia, Dobby, and Hedwig. But one of my favorite parts is the flying car! You will not be disappointed with the value in this set!

    LEGO Creator Sets

    17. 3-in-1 Townhouse Pet Shop & Café 31097

    3 in 1 Townhouse Pet Shop & Café 31097

    Pieces: 969

    Our Recommended Ages: 9-12

Older girls will waste no time getting started on this one of a kind LEGO set! The versatility here appeals to creative kids who can transform it from a pet shop with a café to a market street. There may be a lot of pieces, but I have no doubt it will keep kids happy and occupied for hours! Hence this Townhouse Pet Shop & Café would be most appreciated by those with experience and patience.

    18. 3-in-1 Caravan Family Holiday 31108

    3-in-1 Caravan Family Holiday 31108

    Pieces: 766

    Our Recommended Ages: 9-12

I admire the ingenuity that went into designing this 3 in 1 set. You can transform it into a caravan, camper van, or lighthouse. It even comes with 3 mini-figures and 3 animals. Girls will love building this set and then playing with the figures as they adventure in the mountains or at the lake. This will certainly entertain LEGO lovers for hours and hours!

    19. 3-in-1 Space Rover Explorer 31107

    3-in-1 Space Rover Explorer 31107

    Pieces: 510

    Our Recommended Ages: 8-12

If your girl already loves LEGOs, she’s probably been anxiously awaiting the release of this Space Rover Explorer set. Brand new to 2020, this also provides 3 models in 1 set. It includes all the pieces you need to make a space rover, space base, or space flyer. I know my galaxy loving girl will be tickled to have a set to go along with her passion for all things having to do with outer space!

LEGO DC Superhero Sets for Girls

    20. Wonder Woman vs Cheetah 76157

    Wonder Woman vs Cheetah 76157

    Pieces: 371

    Our Recommended Ages: 8-10

Who remembers the epic battle between Wonder Woman and Cheetah? That action-packed scene from the movie is unforgettable and can be recreated with this new LEGO set. One of the sweetest features is the revolving transmitter tower that rotates a full 360 degrees. A girl can even attach the Wonder Woman mini figure to the transmitter making her fly around. You’ll be happy to see that this set is reasonably priced and fairly easy to build!

    21. Batgirl Batjet Chase 41230

    Batgirl Batjet Chase 41230

    Pieces: 206

    Our Recommended Ages: 7-10

Has your girl seen the DC Super Hero Girls animated show? If she has, I bet she’d really like this set featuring Batgirl’s batjet with a net that pops off. She’ll appreciate the details on the Batgirl mini-figure; you can even see the laces on her boots! Since this set is compatible with all other LEGOs, she may even want another set to construct a bigger play set with other super heroes.

    22. Harley Quinn to The Rescue 41231

    Pieces: 217

    Our Recommended Ages: 7-12

With this exciting set, a girl can recreate Harley Quinn’s jet, a sweet café, and an arcade machine. I bet her favorite part will be the catapult which launches cupcakes at any oncoming foes! This is a smaller model with an affordable price and a fun theme.

    23. Eclipso Dark Palace 41239

    Eclipso Dark Palace 41239

    Pieces: 1078

    Our Recommended Ages: 9-12

It should be mentioned that as cool as this set looks, it’s only for those who either have a lot of patience or who have built other sets before. But it may serve as a motivation to newbies to keep practicing their challenging LEGO skills so that they can work up to this set, because it is awesome! Not only does the palace fold out, but there are other neat features like a planning room and a weapons closet.  It is fully stocked with all the super hero accessories you could think of like a staff, sword, Wonder Woman’s lasso and shield, a pickaxe, and crystals to name a few. Although it is challenging, it would make a great addition to any collection!

That’s it for our list! I hope you found a set you can give to the girl you were shopping for in confidence. The wonderful thing about LEGO is the versatility of their sets so there really is something for everyone. Like I said, you can’t go wrong with a LEGO set!
