Mommy High Five

Celebrating Mothers One Story at a Time

All About Us

Our Mission

At Mommy High Five, our mission is two-fold. First, we aim to celebrate the beauty, joy, and challenges of motherhood. While society seems to marginalize and under appreciate motherhood, we want to highlight the exceptional feats mothers are achieving and learning.

Our “Inspiring Moms” segment highlights the stories of individual mothers and shares their unique stories. From our interviews with national politicians to entrepreneurs to stay-at-home moms, we hope to inspire all moms and help them feel valued. Through this segment we are “Celebrating Mothers One Story at a Time”.

Secondly, we seek to help parents raise their children safely in an often unsafe and scary world. Whether it’s through discussing safe tech options for kids or talking about how to have difficult conversations with kids, we want to provide helpful information to make parenting easier.

Each child is unique and every family faces different challenges. Our hope is that you will feel welcome here and understand that while we might not have experienced everything you are going through, we are hopeful that we can provide you support and ideas that might help in your parenting journey.

Editorial Process

We work to keep our articles current with the most up-to-date information and products. Our writers do extensive research to review products and recommend the very best they find. Product recommendations are made based on personal experience, hands-on product testing, customer reviews, and comparisons with other products. We work hard to keep our reviews honest and unbiased.

Who We Are

Owners

Owners Susan and Jason are parents to 4 children. We have one child who has autism as well as a hearing impairment and a vision impairment. Another of our children has Celiac Disease. While none of these challenges is easy to live with, they have forced us to grow in ways we never could have otherwise. And we have learned to rely on others for support and advice. We hope we can also provide that help and understanding to others in similar situations as well.

Susan

Susan is the Editor-in-Chief as well as CEO of Mommy High Five. She enjoys reading, watching sports, playing board games, traveling, preserving food, playing music, and taking care of a small homestead. Susan has a BA in English with an Editing emphasis and has worked as a freelance writer and editor for over 20 years.

One of Susan’s biggest passions is teaching kids important skills, including playing music, reading, working hard, and showing compassion.

Jason

Jason works on the technical and SEO side of Mommy High Five.  He enjoys basketball, singing, playing games, and watching sci-fi.  He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Writers

Our writers are moms (and some grandmas) who share our vision. These writers share their views as moms who are working every day to give their kids the most enriching lives they can. We try to find writers who are experts in each subject, such as professional photographers, doulas, PE teachers, etc.

Andrea

Andrea e1680059468332

Andrea is a dedicated mom of four firecracker redheads! Andrea is happily married to her best friend, after facing the challenges of a heartbreaking divorce and years of single parenthood. Andrea has a passion for the business world and has spent the past decade in sales and marketing.

When she’s not working, you can find Andrea indulging in her passion for cooking, playing oodles of board games, exploring the world and creating unforgettable memories with her family.

Camille

Camille e1674584020428

Camille spent 30 years being a mom and wondering how anyone could say that being a grandparent was better than being a parent …. Until she became a grandma.  Her love of children has influenced most of her days, from being a full time mom to teaching preschool to teaching elementary PE.
When she isn’t being Grandma (and sometimes when she is) Camille can be found outside hiking, paddle boarding, skiing, or working in her flower garden.  She also loves to read, watch movies, and make puppets.  Her very favorite time is when she is with her grandkids …. and their parents.

Ellen

Ellen2 e1680058751907

Ellen Hollingworth is a mom of two crazy, cute redheads! When she isn’t chasing her kids around, she loves to spend time with her husband, read, write, travel, do photography, hike, be outdoors, run,and play pickleball and volleyball.
Ellen has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in International Development from Brigham Young University, but has found a love of writing through various marketing careers over the last 5 years. She is passionate about helping moms have resources to make being a mom even easier!

Jessica

Jessica e1675441438752

In addition to writing fun content for other moms, Jessica loves all outdoor activities! She’s happiest when out hiking, paddleboarding, running, skiing, or backpacking with her three children, husband, and two labs. She can also often be found “tickling the ivories” or with her nose in a book.

Lauren

Lauren Elkins e1674584305523

Lauren cherishes time with her kids, but also cherishes when they’re at school so she can sip Dr. Pepper, eat chocolate, and write. In addition to writing, she loves to create illustrations and play soccer.
She firmly believes that moms need to find their necessary balance, whether that’s a weekly date with their spouse, a book club with some friends, a fulfilling career, or taking a solo weekend trip! Motherhood can become all-encompassing but it’s so important to remember to take care of yourself so you are able to take care of your family.

Michelle

Michelle e1674585415394

Michelle Jibson is a mom of three young kids. Originally from San Diego, she went to Brigham Young University to study English and Editing. She then moved across the country to get her master’s degree in Journalism at Boston University, where she also managed to pick up a husband. They now live in Colorado and struggle daily to keep their children alive and their own sanity intact. When she’s not frantically momming, Michelle likes to travel, read, cook, and bake.
