5 Favorite Unique Sweet Shops for Kids in Utah

December 2, 2018 By Melisa

You scream, I scream we all scream for Ice Cream.  What kid doesn’t love to get ice cream and go to yummy sweet shops.  I love finding these yummy and fun places to take my kids here in Utah.  If you live here or are passing through, here are five Unique Sweet Shops that your kids will be sure to love.

Rockwell Ice Cream

rockwell-ice-cream-coRockwell Ice Cream is a uniquely tasty ice cream shop in Provo.  It’s the cutest ice cream parlor with really unique ice cream flavors.   Their top 3 flavors are honeycomb, muddy buddy, and biscoff. A single scoop starts at $3.50.

Rockwell has some fantastic cones to choose from including; chocolate chip cookie cones, pretzel cones, Oreo cones, and more.  They have sundaes, banana splits and cookies too.  The inside is so cute and it’s such a fun environment to take them.

You can also buy their homemade ice cream to go. Definitely check Rockwell Ice Cream out with the kids and mom and dad will love it too.

Pop ‘n Sweets

This is the cutest candy and soda parlor.  I first discovered it when my husband took my daughter there for a daddy daughter date. They came home telling me how much they loved it.

What makes Pop ‘n Sweets unique is that they have candy from all over the world. My mom is from England, so I grew up eating Maltesers.  As you can imagine, I was so excited to get it there.  They have Tim Tam cookies from Australia and chocolates from Italy, Germany and all over.  They have super cute menu with unique soda flavors like black cherry, root beer, birch beer, orange, strawberry cream and more.

They have ice cream and soda floats.  They even have Hot Chocolate floats. I got an Irish Pub Hot Chocolate Float. It comes with ice cream, so it’s the perfect temperature for your kids to drink it right away.

Pop ‘n Sweets also has a fun bar to sit at as well as some booths.  The only hard part about here is kids don’t want to ever leave.  They love it!  It’s yummy and so fun.  They have five locations; Provo, American Fork, South Towne Mall, Cedar City, and City Creek. Prices range from $3.50 to $4.00.  The sodas on tap are $2.00 with unlimited refills.

The Chocolate – a Dessert Café

Looking for that perfect piece of chocolate something? You’ll find it at THE CHOCOLATE.

They have a location in Orem and West Jordan.

The Chocolate is a super yummy dessert café that is in a charming renovated house.  They’ve been voted Best Dessert Spot in Utah Valley.

They serve cakes, cupcakes, sugar cookies, hot chocolate, and more.  I got a Cazookie which is a warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top.  It is so yummy!

It’s a great place to take your kids as they have little rooms throughout the café that you can take them and hang out in.  Prices vary. Cupcakes are $1.49 each while slices of cake are $5.50. A Cazookie is $7.59.

Storybrook – Play Café

If you’re looking for a dessert place to take your kids, while you can sit and chat, the StoryBrook Play Cafe is the place to go.  It’s in Salt Lake City near Holladay. They have a play area for kids as well as a café for moms to sit and eat and chat.

On the sweets and drinks menu are Italian sodas, Hot chocolates, Mexican Hot chocolates, Steamers, Lattes, cakes, cupcakes, woopie cakes, muffins, and cookies.  They have free wi-fi. It’s a perfect place to sit and get a treat while have the little ones play.

If you need to work or have a project to do, like filling out your Christmas cards, this is the perfect place to go.  The play area has the cutest little houses with dress ups, a fun little turf on the bottom like grass, and a ball pit.  They can play for hours.  It is pretty new and has been only open about a year.

It does cost $6 to play.  I went with my friends and we stayed for hours. They also have a cute boutique and can serve light lunch items too.  Desserts and drinks range from $2-$5.

The Baked Bear

baked-bear-sweet-shopThe Baked Bear is located in Farmington by the Station Park mall.  It’s the first location in Utah and is brand new having only been open a few weeks.  It’s a custom ice cream sandwich shop.  You can pick your cookies, brownies, or donuts and then your ice cream flavor and toppings.   Everything is made from scratch daily.  It’s not your average ice cream shop and is a place your whole family will love.

I had an Ice Cream Sandwich with a bottom brownie and a cookie top with Mint chocolate chip ice cream, whip cream and hot fudge.  It was so delicious.  They start at about $3.50 for an ice cream sandwich and goes up from there. So, it’s not too pricey.

Your kids will be in ice cream heaven here. They have so much fun picking all the parts of their custom ice cream sandwich.   I took my kids and they could hardly wait to order and design their sandwich.

All of these Dessert stops are worth a visit with your kids.  You will have them so happy as they leave with full and sweet-filled tummies!
