5 Great Baby Carriers for Infants

January 10, 2019 By Ashley A

Our Favorite Baby Carriers
Baby screaming, dinner on the stove, rolls in the oven, and the doorbell ringing? Mommies these days don’t have enough hands to keep up with all the demands that come their way. We need something that not only makes our lives easier but also makes baby happy and gives us two hands to work with!

As a new mom, I was looking for this exact solution and found it in a baby carrier. After hours of research and hundreds of dollars trying out many different kinds, I’m finally ready to recommend my favorites. From newborn to toddler, for holding while making dinner, hiking, walking, school functions, sightseeing, discreetly breastfeeding, and my personal favorite: grocery shopping.

My busy toddler makes for rough trips to the grocery store by pulling items off the shelf, breaking jars, and screaming at the checkout line. In the end, she gets a flustered mom. The baby carrier wrap makes a world of difference, and my little one starts to squeal with excitement when she sees that she gets a ride on mommy! Not to mention what can be better than baby snuggles, right? This product is a MUST for every mom out there–LIFE CHANGER!

5 Top Rated Safe Baby Carriers and Slings for Newborns, Infants, and Toddlers

1#- Ergo 360 (Pictured Above)

This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE baby item. Some may say it is a bit pricey, but it is totally worth the money. This device allows you to wear your baby rear-facing, front-facing (my daughter’s absolute favorite), hip, or backpack style. It also has a head rest and sun shade to protect your little one.

If properly worn, it makes for a pain-free ride for baby and mom. One of the reasons is that it doesn’t let your baby’s legs hang off completely. This helps to prevent pain now and even later in life. I also like it because it’s super easy to put on and take off.

It’s also machine washable…Check!

Weight limit: 7-33 pounds (with baby insert for the little ones).

Ergo 360 vs Ergobaby Original

If you’re thinking about the Ergobaby original rather than this model, I’d highly recommend you go with this one. The new design is better for smaller frames while still working with larger members of your family. The wider waistband also is a lot more comfortable. Overall, it’s worth the price versus the original and others in its category.

#2: Tula

Tula Urbanista Baby Carrier
The Tula can be worn or rear-facing or backpack style.

The Tula is a close second. It is in the same price range as the Ergo, but also worth the money. This carrier can be worn two ways: rear-facing and backpack style.

Tula is known for their quality, and this carrier is no different. It’s comfortable, supportive, and perfect for my baby. The straps have more padding than cheaper brands, which makes it easier to use for extended periods of time.

This is a handmade item that has a lot of fun prints available. It includes a front pocket to stash your belongings and a head rest for the babe, which prevents the head from flopping when baby is catching Z’s. Machine washable.

Weight Limit: Newborn to 45 pounds (with baby insert).

#3 Lille Baby Complete Original

Lille Baby Complete Baby CarrierThis is a very popular and amazing baby carrier because you can take it from newborn well into the toddler stage.

It’s versatile with an adjustable seat and tall neck. This makes it comfortable to wear for hours on end while giving you good lumbar support.

Like the Tula above, it can be used in multiple positions. These include rear-facing, front-facing, back, and hip.

Another plus is that this carrier does NOT require an additional baby insert. Equipped with a pocket and head rest for baby. Machine washable.

Weight Limit:– Newborn to 45 pounds

#4 Maya Wrap

Maya Wrap Ring Sling Baby CarrierThe Maya Wrap,Maya Wrap is a very comfortable ring sling carrier. This is nice for very small newborns to wear up high and snuggle. Babies 6-12-month-olds can be legs in or out, and toddlers can be more free with a hip position.

Padding on the shoulder eases any strain from the weight of the child. It comes in four sizes from small to large and is based on your personal measurements.

This wrap is small, compact, and nice to wear to more formal events as there are fewer straps and buckles to deal with.

My daughter LOVED to be in the Maya Wrap when she was a newborn. Plus, Maya is available in five different prints! Machine washable.

Weight Limit: 8-35 pounds

#5 Boba Baby Wrap

Another more affordable option is the Boba Baby Wrap. This one piece of fabric can turn into a baby carrier after nine simple steps. It’s flexible, as it can be used for many different body types, and the fabric is so soft for babe to swaddle up. You can also use it to breastfeed discreetly. Machine washable.

Weight Limit: Newborn-35 pounds

Final Thoughts:

Every mom has different priorities when looking for a baby carrier. My recommendation first and foremost would be to look for comfort for your baby and, of course, for you. Second, I’d look for a versatile carrier that offers multiple positions because, after all, our babies are growing and changing every day. Third, if your budget doesn’t allow for the Cadillac of baby carriers, go with the best that you can afford. Happy baby-wearing!  Always make sure to safely swaddle your child.
