If you haven’t heard about acrylic paint pouring, you should. It is a fun, easy way for kids and adults to be creative in a non-threatening way. We got some awesome paint kits from Redd Willow, and my boys had such a great time with this art project for kids.
I have to admit that sometimes I am a stick in the mud about allowing my kids to do art projects. The thought of finding supplies, helping kids with the difficult parts, cleaning everything up, and then deciding what to do with the creation can be a bit overwhelming unless I am in the right mood.
However, this project was different. Our paint kit came with everything we needed: a disposable apron, a tablecloth, gloves, acrylic paints, a canvas, and cups (to hold the canvas and to hold the paint). My kids were old enough to do the entire project themselves (though I was overseeing–and taking photos). Clean up was a breeze–just fold everything up all of the disposable items and throw them away. And my boys are so excited to hang up their unique creations in their bedroom.
Everything we needed for this project came all packaged in a box and ready to go.
We watched the tutorial on the website, and the process was simple and straightforward. My boys loved that they could do this all on their own.
It was fun that the boys could decide how much of each paint color they wanted to put in their cups.
Tipping the canvas in different directions to allow the paint to spread was exciting. The painting kept changing as the paint moved around.
The finished paintings were so unique and colorful. This was definitely a favorite art project for my kiddos!
My boys loved that they were able to create a cool art project that they can show off to their friends. I loved how easy it was and how quick the clean up was. Paint pouring is a great way to encourage kids’ creativity and have some fun.
This would be a great activity to do at a family reunion, birthday party, or group date. After seeing how excited my little boys were about these paintings, my teens are begging to do some of this painting with their friends. I definitely see more acrylic paint pouring in my family’s future. This is a great option for younger kids, teens, or adults. Give it a try; you’ll enjoy it.
